Morning Meditation Hike

Garth Stevenson was raised in the mountains of British Columbia by parents that spent all of their free time in the outdoors. Nature became his primary inspiration and the common thread between his life and music. With his double bass strapped to his back he regularly hikes off into remote locations to play. The woods, the ocean, the mountains, the desert and even Antarctica and Siberia have been home to his music. Garth will lead a 20-minute hike into the woods at sunrise. Then, he will play 40 minutes of music inspired by the surroundings while participants meditate or simply enjoy the morning sun.

A beautiful hike through sub-alpine forests and meadows leading to Blackcomb Lake. We will take the Peak to Peak Gondola to Blackcomb Mountain and hike the Alpine Walk, Overlord and Lakeside Loop trails. This is an intermediate/advanced level hike in the rugged backcountry and we’ll be moving at a brisk pace. Supportive, closed toe footwear is recommended. Bring your camera to capture the stunning mountainscape and beautiful wildflowers! This event is 4 hours long, starting and ending at “The Trailhead” venue in Whistler Village. This journey into nature will land at a majestic clearing with beautiful trees needing hugs. Get your feet into the forest and get your hands around a tree. Practice love like it’s your nature! Sunrise Where The Forest Meets The Lake

Experience the forest waking up on this gentle walk to a rewarding destination. Take in the serenity of early morning stillness at Whistler’s Alta Lake, then stroll among tall trees and mossy boulders on the Blueberry Trail. The Blueberry Trail weaves views of the lake with some of Whistler’s most majestic old forest for a truly enlivening morning experience. A few steep climbs yield high viewpoints over the lake and beyond. This walk will leave you charged, clear, and ready for your day. “The world at dawn has secrets to tell you. Don’t go back to sleep.” –Rumi (Full disclosure: The sky will be light when we begin this hike, as sunrise is technically 5:40am. However, the sun will be behind the mountains until roughly 7am.) Please wear covered athletic footwear. Water and camera recommended, yoga mat not required. A light sarong or towel to sit on is optional.

Nature became his primary inspiration and the common thread between his life and music. With his double bass strapped to his back he regularly hikes off into remote locations to play. The woods, the ocean, the mountains, the desert and even Antarctica and Siberia have been home to his music. Garth will lead a 20-minute hike into the woods at sunrise. Then, he will play 40 minutes of music inspired by the surroundings while participants meditate or simply enjoy the morning sun.

We will do a gentle run warm up, some drills and strides to activate the body, and then do a Fartlek run (alternating fast and easy running), before cooling down and stretching it out. We will do a gentle run warm up, some drills and strides to activate the body, and then do a Fartlek run (alternating fast and easy running), before cooling down and stretching it out. Good general run fitness is essential for this class but all speeds are welcome! Lucy will motivate, educate and coach you through the skills required for the session, sharing her passion and expertise for running and you will leave with some good habits to take with you. Lucy is an enthusiastic and motivated runner and coach, who is always ready to share the many stories and skills gained from her high performance career and lifelong pursuit of athletic and personal excellence.

A beautiful hike through sub-alpine forests and meadows leading to Blackcomb Lake. We will take the Peak to Peak Gondola to Blackcomb Mountain and hike the Alpine Walk, Overlord and Lakeside Loop trails. This is an intermediate/advanced level hike in the rugged backcountry and we’ll be moving at a brisk pace. Supportive, closed toe footwear is recommended. Bring your camera to capture the stunning mountainscape and beautiful wildflowers! This event is 4 hours long, starting and ending at “The Trailhead” venue in Whistler Village. This scenic walk through Whistler’s majestic backyard will pause at local hotspot Lost Lake with an option to dip your feet before heading back to the festival. Feel free to bring lightweight hula hoops or a portable musical instrument, as there may be time to play or relax. Please wear covered athletic footwear. Water and camera recommended, yoga mat not required. A light sarong or towel to sit on is optional.
