Progression of Actions in Inversions

Inversions and their healing power are documented in some of the earliest practical yoga texts. The Hatha Yoga Pradipika and Siva Samhita state that aging can be slowed down through the practice of inversions. In this workshop we will gain knowledge of how to prepare for and execute the inverted asanas correctly and safely, as well as learn some of their variations in order to fully experience the benefits of being upside down.

Yoga for the Neck and Shoulders

The neck and shoulders are two of the most commonly stressed and injured parts of the body. Overall tension and poor posture contributes to stiffness and soreness in these areas. In this workshop, we will focus on helping to keep the neck and shoulders supple, strong and healthy. You will learn how to work with props if necessary and those with injuries can learn methods and modifications for shoulder/neck related asanas and how to help support healing through yoga.

In standing asanas we learn how the actions and vitality in the feet and legs feed the spine and torso. When we understand how to adjust the base of the asana correctly, the true life of the pose begins to unfold. In this workshop we’ll explore the foundational support of the standing asanas and how through contact with the earth element from the ground we are able to adjust the muscles, bones, joints, and breath.
